The Challenge

The burgeoning metropolis of Jakarta and its surrounding metropolitan area, home to over 25 million people, faced chronic traffic congestion, road saturation, and a lack of efficient mass transit systems. The absence of high-capacity rail infrastructure severely restricted daily mobility, hindering urban productivity and the quality of life for its residents. To address these mobility and sustainability challenges, the Indonesian government launched a strategic mass transit project: the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, spanning over 44 km of track and 17 stations.

Our Solution

As part of OC Global’s international experience, the Jabodebek LRT project benefited from specialized services in construction supervision, detailed design review, and contract management, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality. This approach encompassed the supervision of elevated structures, viaducts, power systems, and the operational integration of fully automated trains (GoA3 Level). Furthermore, advanced technologies were integrated to mitigate seismic impacts, such as lead rubber bearings (LRB), U-shaped girder structures, and earthquake detection systems for safe transit operation.

Key Impact

  • Urban mobility transformation, providing a modern LRT system that reduces traffic congestion and enhances modal efficiency across the Greater Jakarta Area.
  • Enhanced safety and resilience through the adoption of advanced seismic technologies and automated train control systems (GoA3), maximizing operational reliability.
  • Operational efficiency and cost reduction, driven by automated train systems and cutting-edge signaling that optimize service frequency and fleet management.
  • International recognition for technical excellence, including the FIDIC Asia-Pacific Awards 2025 MEGA Project Award, highlighting the system’s contribution to economic development and local quality of life.
